2. Compression & Quality
iCompressIt analyzes your image and re-encodes it using the best strategy for that format. The final file is always equal to or smaller than the original.
The tool is designed to keep visual quality high. PNG compression is fully lossless. JPEG and WebP use smart quality levels that are usually imperceptible.
There is no hard limit. The only practical limit is your device’s available memory. Most modern devices handle very large images without issues.
If an image is already well optimized, further compression may not reduce the size. In these cases the tool returns the original and shows “Already optimal”.
The current version automatically selects the best settings for each image to deliver excellent results without manual adjustments.
Yes. Re-encoding through the Canvas API strips most metadata (including EXIF), which also helps reduce file size.

3. Formats & Conversion
Input: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF and more. Output: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and GIF.
Modern browsers do not provide a native BMP encoder. The tool will show a clear message and recommend better alternatives such as PNG.
BMP is uncompressed, so files are very large. iCompressIt converts them into a more efficient format (usually optimized PNG), often reducing size by 80–95%.
PNG is lossless and supports transparency - ideal for graphics and logos. WebP can be lossless or lossy and usually produces smaller files, making it excellent for websites.
AVIF generally offers better compression than WebP. WebP has slightly wider support. Both are excellent modern choices.
Yes. Use the dedicated conversion pages (Convert to JPG, Convert to PNG, Convert to WebP, Convert to AVIF, etc.).
Yes, when converting to or compressing PNG, WebP, or AVIF that support transparency. Converting to JPEG will remove transparency (JPEG does not support it).
4. Troubleshooting & Performance
Common causes: unsupported or corrupted file, very large image on a low-memory device, browser format limitations, or a temporary browser issue. Try refreshing or using another browser.
There is no fixed limit. You can drop multiple images at once. Performance depends on your device’s memory and CPU.
Yes. After processing multiple files, use the “Download All” button to get everything in a single ZIP archive.
Close other heavy tabs, process fewer or smaller images at a time, use a desktop browser for very large files, and make sure your browser is up to date.
Modern versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari work best. Some advanced formats (especially AVIF) have varying support.
HEIC support depends on the browser and operating system. Many browsers still cannot decode HEIC. Convert the file to JPEG or PNG first using your device’s Photos app, then upload it.
